Sports/Remedial massage

Sports Massage and Remedial Massage

Following your initial assessment at Body Balance Therapy, your treatment will be tailored to your needs and will involve various soft tissue techniques to enhance your wellbeing. This may include Instrument assisted soft tissue mobilisation, stretching and joint mobilisations, to further enhance the effects of soft tissue massage.

Whats the difference between Sports Massage and Remedial Massage?

None!
Clients often worry that a Sports massage will be painful and uncomfortable but the treatment pressure is constantly monitored to work within the patients tolerance. At some points in the treatment painful ‘knots’ may be targeted but again this will be done within acceptable pain levels.

What are the benefits of massage?

Massage can be beneficial in treating both localised muscle pain (knots), and also that of the entire body and mind. By manipulating the body’s soft tissue, massage works to improve the functionality of the circulatory, lymphatic, muscular and nervous systems, alleviating pain, reducing stress and promoting general wellbeing and good health.

Massage can help to improve mobility and muscle/joint range.  It is often used as part of a Physiotherapy or Rehabilitation treatment program at Body Balance Therapy. Deep tissue massage (Sports massage) can be used as part of a sports training program to aid recovery, ease tight muscles, improve mobility and decrease pain. You may choose to book a massage to work on a particular area of discomfort or after a gruelling sporting event.

Why come to Body Balance Therapy for Massage?

What Should I wear during treatment?

We recommend that you wear loose comfortable clothing. We may ask you to partially remove some clothing so that we can access the area to treat. We provide shorts should you need to change. We recommend you wear a back fastening bra when getting treatment for neck, shoulder or upper back issues instead of a sports bra.

Consider Maintenance Sessions ‘health MOT’ ?

Regular massage sessions may help you be the best you possibly can be. Whether that is allowing you to get up in the morning with less pain and discomfort, walking the ‘dogs further’ or helping you prepare and recover for your chosen ‘sporting activities’.
